Departure from the hotel at 9:00 AM. Visit to the former nitrate mines and ghost towns of Santa Laura and Humberstone (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), exploring buildings such as the theater, general store, hotel, market, hospital, and industrial plant where nitrate was produced for export to Europe and the USA. Crossing the Tamarugal Forest and the town of Pozo Almonte, to visit the town of La Tirana (home to Chile's most important religious folk festival).

Arrival at the Pica Oasis for lunch at a traditional restaurant and a visit to the semi-thermal natural pool (Cocha Resbaladero - OPTIONAL). Then, a visit to the Matilla Oasis, its Spanish wine press (18th-century wine factory), the Church of San Antonio, and its stone bell tower. Arrival in Iquique at 7:30 p.m.

Characteristics: Dry and hot climate, 1,400 meters above sea level

Equipment: Wear comfortable clothing, athletic shoes + hat or cap. Bring a swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen.
